Roberto Di Matteo shown the door! But main problem is Roman Abramovich

British media this morning have come up with new rumours surrounding Roberto Di Matteo’s future at Stamford Bridge. If rumours are to be believed then Roberto Di Matteo will soon be replaced with Rafa Benitez, Avram Grant or Pep Guardiola. This shows how short Roman Abramovich’s memory is!

A reminder to Roman Abramovich which most Chelsea fans have got to share. Six months ago one man named Roberto Di Matteo handed the rich Russian his holy grail, Champions League. Roman Abramovich has spent over £1 billion to win the Champions League. Had Roberto Di Matteo not won the Champions League on 19th May 2012 then today Chelsea wouldn’t only be playing in Europa League but also the likes of Eden Hazard and Oscar wouldn’t had come to Stamford Bridge.

One would ask how can Roman Abramovich be unfaithful? Well, he has shown in the past the door to managers who have won him titles and trophies such as Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti. But Roberto Di Matteo is a special case. He has only had one bad month and Roman Abramovich is already thinking of replacing him. But the main fault lies in Roman Abramovich’s lack of patience.

Roberto Di Matteo was given a task to transit Chelsea to a new attacking style of play. New young players such as Eden Hazard, Oscar, Marko Marin and Victor Moses were brought in to change Chelsea’s style of play. These young lads settled in fairly quick but they lack the experience needed to make differences in major games such as against Manchester United or last night’s Champions League game at Juventus. They are ones for the future and even if the best manager in the world, Sir Alex Ferguson, was given this task he would not have been able to achieve success with such an inexperienced team in one season.

To make things worse, Roman Abramovich decided to stick to Fernando Torres as the only main striker for Chelsea. He had options in summer to buy better strikers such as Radamel Falcao, Edinson Cavani and Hulk. But he opted to stick with Torres who has in the past two seasons at Chelsea only scored 19 goals out of 82 appearances. This has made Roberto Di Matteo’s life hell at Chelsea. It seems for Roman Abramovich Torres means everything and he will go out and get even a new manager to bring Torres back to form. Let us not forget it was Torres’ poor form that costed Carlo Ancelotti and Andres Villas Boas their jobs. Roman should realize that no player is bigger than a club. Roman is turning Chelsea into a grave yard for top managers, who are spoiling their CVs for Roman’s love for his players. Jose Mourinho had faced the same fate due to Andriy Shevchenko’s poor form.

It is high time Chelsea fans should stand up for their club and bring in stability. Supporting Roman Abramovich is taking the club nowhere. One day the Russian will walk out and this will kill Chelsea. They are a club depending on the Russian’s money and not their own academy for success.

Roberto Di Matteo should be given time at Chelsea and Roman once again should spend money to bring in good strikers to Chelsea in January. They maybe out of Champions League but they have enough quality to win Premier League.
